Introduction to the Basics of Massage Cupping: Two Day Workshop

Cupping is an age old method of bodywork and is becoming more and more popular in the US due to its effectiveness and because…it feels great. Cups are attached to the body via negative pressure, and can be used stationary or moved along the skin.

The gentle lifting of the soft tissue can release adhesions, decrease stagnation in body fluids and Qi, and stimulate the skin. Cupping also engages the parasympathetic nervous system, quickly facilitating deep relaxation. As a treatment method, cupping is very safe, inexpensive, and easy to learn.

   Workshop material will include:
    • safety for the client and practitioner
    • effects of cupping treatments
    • ah shi, or pain point techniques
    • flash cupping
    • moving/gliding cupping
    • contraindications
    • self-cupping
    • incorporating cupping into your practice

The purpose of this workshop is to provide the massage therapist with another tool - a very potent and unique tool (negative pressure) that has been used since...probably forever.

By the end of this workshop, you'll be able safely and confidently attach, move, and remove cups using the fire method. Negative pressure can be effectively integrated with whatever style of bodywork you do - Swedish, Thai, deep tissue, myofascial release, Shiatsu, lymphatic drainage...the possibilities and applications are endless.
