Massage is probably one of the oldest healing methods. People will naturally rub areas that are hurt, sore, or tired. General massage helps to remove stagnations in the blood and lymph, strengthens the immune system, helps with the elimination of metabolic waste from the soft tissues of the body, increases flexibility, soothes the nervous system, and has a myriad of other wonderful health enhancing benefits. And it pretty much goes without saying that massage simply feels good. Often overlooked, however, is that partnered and self-massage is an invaluable practice for deepening the mind/body connection. Massage works hand in hand (pun intended) with practices like Qigong, Tai Chi, and Aikido that strive for coordination of the physical, mental and spiritual. Toward that end, we are committed to offering classes and workshops for the non-therapist to study the what-why-how of basic massage. And for the massage therapist, continuing education classes in complimentary material that can be naturally and easily incorporated into their professional practice. Because we feel so strongly about the benefits for all our students, we offer our Qigong Massage sessions free with any class enrollment or dojo membership. |
