Massage Cupping is a technique
where glass cups are attached to the skin by negative pressure - it is
becoming more and more popular in the U.S. due to its effectiveness and
because…it feels great. One of my clients described it as “deep tissue
from the inside out”.
Cups can be used stationary to treat a knot or pain point, or can be moved along the surface of the skin. Moving the cups creates a very pleasant and unique sensation as the underlying tissues are lifted, which must be experienced to be fully appreciated. Cultures all over the world use cupping. The earliest written record is from 1500 BC in Egypt, and Hippocrates is said to have chastised physicians who did not use cupping in treating patients. In addition to freeing fascial adhesions, removing metabolic waste from soft tissues, increasing circulation, releasing stagnations, and a myriad of other health benefits…it is very very relaxing.
